Radiodetection launches RD7000™+ Utility Cable and Pipe Locator range with Compass and Dynamic Overload Protection

Radiodetection, a world leader in the design and development of cable and pipe locators, announces the launch of a new range of precision locators. Over two years ago, Radiodetection launched the popular RD7000™ range of utility specific locators, offering high performance in an ergonomic and exceptionally user-friendly platform.  The RD7000™+ products that replace them focus on core user requirements by incorporating Dynamic Overload Protection to improve locate performance in electrically noisy areas and Compass, which determines and displays the orientation of the target cable or pipe, simplifying route determination and helping to improve depth measurement accuracy.

The task of locating specific pipes and cables in large underground networks is becoming increasingly complex, making the operator’s job more difficult and more time-consuming. Radiodetection research into this area identifies improved locator ease of use, accuracy and reliability as key to user requirements.  The RD7000+ range addresses these needs with new features that deliver accurate, reliable and repeatable measurements:

Compass

Radiodetection’s proprietary Compass feature provides the operator with a visual indication of the orientation of the target cable or pipe. This feature makes following the target line significantly easier, and also makes it easier to position the RD7000+ correctly for maximum depth measurement accuracy.

Dynamic Overload Protection (DOP)

Dynamic Overload Protection extends the locator’s area of operation into electrically noisy environments where other products fail. Dynamic Overload Protection allows the user to continue to locate accurately in areas with high levels of electromagnetic interference, such as power sub-stations and beneath high voltage transmission lines and overhead or railway HV cables.

Dynamic Overload Protection is an integrated, automatic feature of the RD7000+. No action is required by the user to enable the feature.

Industry Specific Products

The RD7000+ range consists of 4 locators, each tailored to a specific industry.

The RD7000SL+, with its broad range of standard active frequencies and the rugged construction common to all Radiodetection locators, is a reliable and versatile locator for the construction industry.

• The RD7000DL+ incorporates several features specifically aimed at users working in pipe location and inspection. Supported by the wide range of Radiodetection accessories, this unit is the ideal locator for the water industry and the ideal partner for the Radiodetection / Pearpoint range of inspection equipment.
• The RD7000PL+ is designed specifically for the power industry with tailored features and a range of compatible accessories designed for power applications.  This unit also features fault find capability, enabling cable faults to be precisely located.
• The RD7000TL+ is ideal for location professionals working within the telecoms industry, where high impedance sheathed cables make location a real challenge. With a range of locate frequencies extending up to 200 kHz and fault finding capabilities, the RD7000TL+ is designed to address the needs of users tasked with locating and maintaining such cables.

Centros™ Enabled

All RD7000+ units are Centros enabled. Centros is a measurement engine based on more than 30 years of continuous development, combining new and innovative algorithms with established software on a high-performance processor core. Centros improves location accuracy and repeatability and delivers timely responsiveness in the field.

eCAL™ Product Validation

Unique to Radiodetection’s precision locators, eCAL^TM allows users to validate the original factory calibration of their RD7000+ locator.  By checking the responses of all relevant internal components, eCAL provides the user with confidence that the locator performs as it did when it first left the factory. eCAL can be carried out on-site and allows the owner to print a validation certificate without the need to return the RD7000+ to a service center.

Radiodetection announces the RD5000™WL single-frequency pipe & cable locator kit

Radiodetection, a world leader in the design and development of cable and pipe locators, announces the launch of a new utility locator and transmitter with novel features that are particularly suited for use in the modern water industry.

Designed for ease of use, the combination of RD5000™WL locator and RD5000WLT transmitter provide a single high frequency location kit which is well-matched to the task of locating jointed pipes. These often pose a particular challenge due to isolative seals between sections, and plastic pipes with tracer wire.

Locating specific pipes and cables in large underground networks is becoming increasingly complex. To address this, Radiodetection has developed ClearTRACK™, a powerful digital signal processing engine that automatically rejects other signals from adjacent conductors, leading to more accurate location of a target pipe or cable.  This feature helps to ensure that operators using the RD5000WL can confidently trace their target pipe or cable through increasingly congested underground utility networks. They are further improved by Dynamic Overload Protection, which rejects large unwanted signals allowing use in electrically noisy areas – beneath high voltage cables, for example.

Easy to use
The RD5000WL has two operation modes: Guidance Mode, which directs the operator to the target pipe or cable centerline using proportional directional arrows and differentiated audio tones, and Signal Strength Mode, which displays the field strength given out by the located pipe or cable, helping the user to pinpoint the target. Both locator and transmitter are controlled using a single button, making them amongst the easiest to use products available.

Radiodetection offers a free upgrade to a 3 year extended warranty on the RD5000WL kit through registration on www.radiodetection.com/extendedwarranty within 3 months of purchase. Registered products also receive free product software upgrades through the Centros Manager software suite as they are released.
